How are you holding up?
That is a question getting asked a lot these days as we hunker down to protect ourselves and others.
But, isolated or not, we need each other. We need community.
In the latest installment of our Heroes Among Us series, we explore an Oregon town’s six-decade legacy of caring for kids. The story begins with Harry and Bertha Holt. Driven by their values and tenacity, these small-town pillars birthed an international adoption movement whose work helps thousands of children around the world every year.
“If you look for the helpers, you’ll know that there’s hope.” Fred Rogers, the Presbyterian minister who became known in American households as Mr. Rogers, often shared his mother’s maxim as a way of coping when tragedy strikes.
In that spirit, we have made it our mission in 2020 to find the helpers and tell their stories. We want to shine light on the helpers and the abundance of hope and virtue that’s around us all the time.
Have you begun your own gratitude project? Do you know some unsung heroes whose examples inspire? We want to hear from you.
